Gamers have been wondering what happened to The Last Guardian, the latest project from Team Ico, the creators of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. For awhile, players thought it was cancelled.
That’s not the case. In an interview with Gamesinudstry.biz, Sony Worldwide Studios chief Shuhei Yoshida confirmed that the game is still alive and well, in the midst of transition.
“So, we’re waiting for the right time to re-introduce The Last Guardian in an appropriate way,” said Yoshida. “I can’t, well, the game is in development, and it’s well staffed, and (Fumito) Ueda-san is here, working – even though he’s not a Sony employee, he’s dedicated to the product. But we’re not ready to update yet.”
The game is not cancelled, though. Yoshida insists that the developers have “always been here.”
“They’re going through the re-engineering of the game, so the team size is smaller, because it’s more engineered focused right now.”
It’s more than likely going to be re-introduced as a PlayStation 4 release, though Yoshida stopped short of confirming this.
