Expect beta details soon.

Capcom’s next-generation effort, Deep Down, has been shrouded in mystery over the past few months, with bits and pieces shown from the role-playing/action game to give us a better idea what to expect. This past weekend at the Tokyo Game Show, Sony revealed one very important tidbit about the game – it’s going free-to-play on PlayStation 4.

Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios, tweeted the news this past week, stating “Capcom just announced that Deep Down will be a f2p game on PS4, planning open Beta near the launch of PS4 in Japan” while tagging Capcom’s own Yoshinori Ono, who previously worked on the Street Fighter franchise as director.

As the tweet indicates, there is an open beta coming, set for launch on February 22nd in Japan. There’s no word if it will reach the U.S. or European markets.

We’ll have a first look at Deep Down soon.
