Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag isn’t too far from release, and fans will be able to experience this new adventure however they see fit.

That said, Ubisoft sees an advantage with the next-gen versions of the game, and revealed a video where associate producer Sylvain Trottier points out where the biggest differences lie. The explanation’s a bit technical, talking about the design of the ocean and showing how shading comes into play. It’s still worth watching, though, especially if you want to see how hard developers are working on next-generation tech.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag releases on October 29th for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC, and in November for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
