Disney kept fans busy this weekend at the D23 Expo in California, showing off the latest in movies, TV shows, and other mediums. Video games also played a huge part during the show, as Harmonix showed off its upcoming Fantasia: Music Evolved.
Not to be outdone, Disney Infinity had its own showcase, and the company made good on offering some new surprises for the game. The Toy Story set was introduced at the event, with Woody the cowboy, Buzz Lightyear and Jesse the cowgirl introduced as playable characters. They’ll have their own toy box as well, in a set that will come out separately this October.
In addition, other playable characters will join the party over the next few months, including Agent P. Phineas, Wreck-It Ralph, his young friend Vanellope, some princesses from the upcoming film Frozen, Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas, Rapunzel from Tangled, and a special Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey, which was handed out to attendees at the event.
That’s a lot of content for the game – but we haven’t seen it all yet. Disney plans to release more details over the next few months…as well as a special physical Disneyland Toy Box, which will release at the same time as the game.
Disney Infinity arrives on August 18th for Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. You can check out our dedicated game page here.
