Best Kyogre Movesets for Pokemon GO Gym Battles (PvE)

Best Offensive Kyogre Pokemon GO Gym Battle Moveset

When gearing up Kyogre to battle against Gyms or in Raids, the best moveset it can have is the Quick Move Waterfall and the Charge Move Origin Pulse. Kyogre can learn Origin Pulse during special events or by using an Elite Charge TM on it. This move combination has the best damage output, and is one of the strongest sources of Water-type damage in the game.

Best Defensive Kyogre Pokemon GO Gym Battle Moveset

There is no best defensive Gym moveset for Kyogre! Kyogre, like other legendary Pokemon, cannot be left to defend Gyms.

Best Kyogre Moveset for the Pokemon GO Battle League (PvP)

Kyogre’s best Quick Move in the Pokemon GO Battle League is once again Waterfall. For its main Charge Move, you’re actually better off with Surf over Origin Pulse. Surf is better for baiting out opponents, while also still dealing major Water damage when it does go through. At that point, your second Charge Move is best used on an attack of a different type for coverage.

You can opt for a Charge Move combo of Surf and Origin Pulse if you want Kyogre to focus entirely on dealing Water-type damage, spamming Surf and then hitting with Origin Pulse when the opponent’s shields are down. In this case, you’ll want Kyogre’s teammates to make up for its lack of type coverage.

For Kyogre’s second Charge Move, Thunder is better against other Water-type Pokemon, including opposing Kyogre. Blizzard is better against Dragon-types and is marginally preferred over Thunder, but you can make the call based on your remaining team members and their movesets.

Even if you don’t plan on tackling the Pokemon GO Master League with Kyogre, it’s worth it to spruce up your super ancient whale in preparation for Primal Groudon Raid Day.
