Following the release of the reboot back in March, Square Enix confirmed that a sequel to Tomb Raider is officially in development for next-generation consoles.  CEO Phil Rogers announced on the company’s blog page that Lara will make her return to games sooner than later.

“I am also excited to reveal that we are well into development on a next-generation Tomb Raider sequel – something you may have heard about recently!” said Rogers.  No other details were given, but Crystal Dynamics, the team that has worked on the franchise over the past few years, will be back at the helm.

There’s no word on a release date yet, but we’ll keep you informed on the game’s progress.  In the meantime, don’t forget to check out the original, which is available now for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. It’s easily one of the year’s best titles.
