Team 17 has announced that it will release its latest entry in the series, Worms 3, for mobile devices later this year.  The game will be compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices across the board.

In the game, you’ll have 27 single player missions to tackle, along with a new mode called BodyCount, which increases in difficulty with each kill you get, using whatever weapons you have at your disposal.  Yes, that includes exploding sheep.

Multiplayer will make a return, with asynchronous online action in both ranked and friendly matches. Pass-and-play will also be an option for up to four players.

New weapons will be introduced, like the Black Hole Grenade and Canned Heat – which sounds awesome. Worms Revolution’s Class system will come into play, and you’ll be able to collect strategic cards that you can add to your deck to improve your arsenal.

If you’re a Worms fan, this sounds like a party you shouldn’t miss. Bring your Banana Bombs.
