We pick up from our Basic Moves preview and showcase Batman’s Special Moves.
Straight Grapple
Command: Down, Forward + Light
Hit Level: High
Range: Full Screen
Description: Batman fires a grappling hook towards the opponent. Straight Grapple travels full screen until it hits, is blocked, or travels off screen. If it hits, Batman reels himself in toward the opponent and lands an airborne kick. This attack can be punished with counter attacks if the grapple either misses or is blocked while Batman is still recovering. This attack hits high so it can be crouched under by most characters.
Meter Burn Straight Grapple
Description: By pressing the Meter Burn button during Straight Grapple, Batman will stop just short of the opponent instead of executing his normal kick, leaving him or her open to more attacks like a Flying Kick or Wheel Kicks. If landed on an airborne opponent, it will bring him or her back down to a standing position on the ground, allowing for follow-up attacks.
Sky Grapple
Command: Down, Back + Light
Hit Level: Mid
Range: Vertical 1/3 Screen
Description: Batman deploys his Grappling Hook skyward, hitting any airborne opponents. Upon connecting, Batman will slam his opponent into the ground far behind himself.
Meter Burn Sky Grapple
Description: Pressing the Meter Burn button during Sky Grapple will cause Batman to slam his opponent down, dealing additional damage, and will bounce the opponent for a juggle opportunity.
Batarang
Command: Back, Forward + Medium
Hit Level: Mid
Range: Full Screen
Description: Batman pulls out two batarangs and throws them towards his opponent horizontally. This attack cannot be crouched; it must be blocked.
Meter Burn Batarang
Description: Pressing the Meter Burn button at any point during Batarang will detonate the projectiles, causing additional damage as well as a knock back. Even when blocked, the explosion will push the opponent backwards.
Up Batarang
Command: Down, Back + Medium
Hit Level: Mid
Range: Vertical 1/3 Screen
Description: Batman throws a batarang at an upward angle that will hit any airborne opponents.
Meter Burn Up Batarang
Description: Pressing the Meter Burn button during Up Batarang will detonate the batarang and bounce the opponent into the air, allowing you to follow up with a juggle combo.
Slide Kick
Command: Back, Forward + Hard
Hit Level: Low
Range: 1/2 Screen
Description: Batman quickly slides across the ground with a kick that will knock the opponent down. Very punishable when blocked.
Meter Burn Slide Kick
Description: Pressing the Meter Burn button during Slide Kick after it hits will shoot an exploding batarang that deals additional damage. When this attack is blocked, it is still very punishable.
(Air) Scatter Bombs
Command: Down, Back + Medium
Hit Level: Mid
Range: Sweep
Description: Batman scatters bombs in front of him that cover sweep distance. Versus standing opponents, it staggers them enough for him to apply pressure, while in air-to-air situations it knocks the opponent clear out of the air.
Cape Parry
Command: Down, Back + Hard while in the air
Hit Level: N/A
Range: Close
Description: Batman pulls his cape over his torso and deflects any high or overhead attacks. If an opponent falls for Cape Parry, Batman unleashes a series of strikes that eventually leaves him or her on the ground.
