How to Fix Apex Crashing After FF VII Event Update

How to Fix Apex Crashing After FF VII Event Update

If you’ve been dying to hit to smack your fellow legends with a buster sword only for the game to crash, you’re not alone. Since the Final Fantasy VII Update was released on January 9, PC players have been plagued with crashes.

Fortunately, we have a solution to the Final Fantasy VII Event Update crashes on the PC.

  • Restart your PC.
  • Hit the hotkey that lets you access BIOS.
    • Usually, the hotkey button is DEL, F10, or F12. But you may need to check your motherboard manufacturer instructions if it’s not.
  • Access your CPU settings.
  • Search for Intel AES-NI.
  • Enable AES-NI.
  • Save and exit.
  • Restart your PC.

This solution has worked for several players. However, it’s not a guarantee. On the Apex Legends Dev Tracker, there is currently a Trello card for PC crashing with DX 12 and older Intel CPUs. So, if this doesn’t work for you, rest assured that the dev team at Respawn is aware of it and actively working towards solutions.

Solutions that don’t seem to have worked include reinstalling the game, restarting the PC, repairing files, and formatting the hard drives.

And it’s likely that we’ll see a fix faster than usual, as this is a pretty major collaboration between Respawn Entertainment and Square Enix. After all, how are we going to get that $300 One-Winged Angel Death Box if we can’t spend money on the game?
