Bad news: pirates have gotten the jump on Microsoft once again. Good news: Microsoft isn’t taking it lying down.
Reports have indicated that Gears of War: judgment, the forthcoming prequel to the series from Epic Games, has already leaked online to various torrent sites, just a month before the game’s actual release to retail. However, Microsoft already knows what’s going on.
“We are aware of isolated cases in which Gears of War: Judgment content has been propped on the Web and are working closely with our security teams and law enforcement to address the situation immediately,” a Microsoft rep explained to Joystiq.
The version is complete, but if you’re going to play it, you might want to stick with offline play, because Microsoft is watching.
“Consumers should be aware that piracy is illegal and we take vigorous action against illegal activity related to our products and services. Playing pirated copies of games, such as Gears of War: Judgment, is a violation of the Xbox Live Terms of Use and will result in enforcement action, such as account or console bans,” Microsoft added to its statement.
Do yourself a favor and wait for the official release, which is coming March 19th exclusively for Xbox 360.
