Pokemon Indigo Disk: How to Get Iron Boulder in Scarlet & Violet

Futuristic power

The Swords of Justice have all received new looks in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet as Paradox Pokemon. Two of them are exclusive to the Indigo Disk DLC and one of them is Iron Boulder, a brand-new design of how Terrakion might look like years from now.

How to Catch Iron Boulder in Pokemon Indigo Disk

Iron Boulder is available through the DLC and it’s exclusive to Pokemon Violet, meaning that Scarlet players can’t find it no matter what they do. They’ll still need it for their full Pokedex, though, so they’ll have to find someone to trade them with. There’s only one Iron Boulder per save file too, so this is the only one you can go for if you want to truly catch’em all.

The first step is to visit Perrin in the Terarium after you catch 200 different species in your Blueberry Pokedex. She will then give you two hints about the whereabouts of both Iron Boulder and Iron Crown, the two new Violet-exclusive Paradoxes. Both are dwelling inside Area Zero, and that’s where we’re heading right now.

Enter Area Zero and take the teleport to Research Station No.2, then jump down as soon as you leave the station. Glide down without going too far from where you jumped and you should see a river to your left.

You can see a stone directly in front of said river. If you go past it (next to where some Venomoth spawn), you should see Iron Boulder waiting for you. Make sure you’re stocked up on a lot of Ultra Balls, Timer Balls and maybe a Master Ball if you just want to catch it ASAP.

Iron Boulder is a Rock/Psychic type, so he has tons of weaknesses like Water, Grass, Ground or Steel. Using a Pokemon with any of these types is a great strategy to take its hits while you wear it down slowly before throwing the catching ball. Remember to apply some status conditions like Sleep or Paralysis to give you some extra chances.

The Master Ball is a good option here as it has the same catch rate as any other Legendary. Alternatively, Timer Balls are stronger than Ultra Balls past the 4th turn, and will be the strongest Balls from the 10th turn onward.

It will probably be stubborn, but it will eventually enter the ball. Remember to save your game before engaging it just in case you end up knocking it out. If that happens, either reload your save file or exit the game and set up your Nintendo Switch clock one day forward. This should work to bring that Legendary back into the game, so no need to panic if you bring it down. Just like the other new Paradox, it’ll be here waiting for you once again.
