In past versions of Warzone, the Snake Shot ammunition attachment took over the meta for secondary weapons or close-quarters fights. With the Modern Warfare 3 version of Warzone, the shotgun-like ammo has made a return and you may need to try it out.
COD Warzone: How to Use Snake Shot Ammo
To use Snake Shot ammo, you need to equip the Tyr handgun in your secondary slot for a loadout and attach it through the ammunition slot. Unless you find another player’s Tyr, using a custom version of this sidearm is necessary. Nearly every gun in the game has access to ammunition attachments, but only the Tyr and the Basilisk from MW2 can make use of Snake Shot in any capacity. So you may need to get some unlocks out of the way.
For the Tyr, the ammunition attachment you are looking for is called 12.7x55mm Snake Shot and is the last option on the list. This type of ammo has been available since Warzone officially launched with MW3. But players weren’t using the attachment in droves until a mid-December patch went live for weapon balancing.
Remember that when you use the Snake Shot ammo on the Tyr, it becomes a mini shotgun. So, your shots will have pellet spread with far less range. In return, the weapon becomes the Call of Duty version of the Super Shotgun from Doom. Pair the ammo with the Akimbo attachment and now the meta is busted.
Is Snake Shot Ammo Disabled in Warzone?
At the time of this writing, the answer is yes, Snake Shot ammo was disabled on December 15 for all Warzone players. After recent weapon balancing, it was quickly becoming the most powerful attachment in the game and clips were flying in of squad wipes with just a few trigger pulls. But we will update this guide when the next update rolls out for balancing the Tyr.
