How to Use Locked Diary in MW3 Zombies

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 has begun, and it has brought more secrets to the Zombies mode. One of the new secrets is the Locked Diary item, which the game can be somewhat cryptic about how to use if you are not paying close attention.

How to Use the Locked Diary Item in MW3 Zombies

The Locked Diary can be used at the Cryo Rift Pedestal located at the Dark Aether Rift near the middle of the Urzikstan map in Zombies. Players must have the item placed in an open slot in their inventory before the match has started.

The Dark Aether Rift is the giant black tornado that has appeared on the south side of the red High Threat zone, and was introduced with Season 1. It appears on a tiny island in the water, and is free from spawning zombies.

There are four pedestals on the island and each can be interacted with. Players will have to find the Cryo Rift Pedestal, which will have a snowflake symbol on it.

Interact with the Cryo Rift Pedestal and deposit the Locked Diary into it. The pedestal will light up, but nothing else will happen. The Locked Diary is a Sigil, and the other three Sigils must be placed on their respective pedestals for the rift to activate.

How to Get Locked Diary in MW3 Zombies

The Locked Diary item can be found by defeating the Gorm’gant boss after taking the Dark Aether teleporter. Players will encounter the boss during the Act 4 mission Bad Signal.

Players can repeat the Gorm’gant boss fight as many times as they like after completing the Bad Signal mission. This is the way to get multiple Locked Diary items if lost from death or by using it.
