How Many Kills to Get a Nuke in MW3? – Answered

Another year, another nuke

The most iconic killstreak in the Call of Duty franchise is the Tactical Nuke and it returns with a different name in Modern Warfare 3. However, the kill count to earn the streak has changed in recent years and you don’t want to chase the wrong number.

How to Get a Nuke in Modern Warfare 3

You need to get 30 kills without dying to earn a nuke in MW3. There is no mention of it in the killstreak section of the main menu and that’s because it’s technically a “secret” streak. As long as you can reach the 30-kill mark in a Multiplayer match, the Mass Guided Bomb (MGB) streak will appear on your screen for you to call in.

Because the streak is secret, everyone already has it equipped by default. You can keep the standard three streaks that you want and still earn the MGB as a fourth killstreak. However, any kills you get with your streak will not count toward the nuke. At least 30 kills without any streaks or assists involved are required. That also means that scorestreaks aren’t going to help you here either.

When you earn an MGB, you can call the streak in and it will give the classic countdown on everyone’s screen before imminent destruction. In some games, the nuke simply kills every enemy on the map and they respawn. The good news here is that the MGB in MW3 will end the match as you would expect.

Actually earning the streak is an entirely different story. Depending on your SBMM bracket and the modes you play, the difficulty can vary. War mode is likely the least difficult mode to play in the game but it’s also chaotic. Something like Team Deathmatch is likely your best bet.

Using a weapon like the BAS-B will help you get those higher streaks in tough MW3 matches.
