Wii U Sells 400,000 Units In Its First Week

Strong out of the gate.

In more Wii U news (there’s plenty that came in over the weekend), Nintendo has happily reported that they have sold 400,000 initial units of its newest system over the past week, despite the limitation in pre-orders and certain availability circles.  In addition, 300,000 Wii units also sold during that week, along with 500,000 portable systems.

“Wii U is essentially sold out of retail and we are doing our best to continually replenish stock,” said Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime.  “Retailers are also doing their best to get the product to store shelves.  But as soon as product hits retail, they’re selling out immediately.”

It’s sure to clear a million just in time for Christmas.
