Can't connect in matches with Call of Duty and Guitar Hero games? We might know why…

Hurricane Sandy is hitting pretty hard on the East Coast, affecting millions of people and leaving them without power or a warm place to stay. The natural disaster is also affecting gamers who are trying to log in to play a round of their favorite Call of Duty and Guitar Hero games against others. Minor compared to the real devastation but it’s still happening.

According to Activision spokesperson Dan Amrich, the hurricane is affecting servers that tie in with World At War, Modern Warfare 2 (both on PS3), and Black Ops on PS3 and Wii. All of the Guitar Hero games are equally unable to log in as well.

“Activision is working on restoring full functionality as soon as possible, but I don’t know when that will be. Your patience while they deal with the storm’s effects is appreciated,” said Amrich.

Our hearts certainly go out to those who are caught in the hurricane’s wake. In the end, video games are a small deal compared to something like that. Stay safe!
