If you’re a new Furina owner or are looking to explore the full extent of the 4.2 update in Genshin Impact, visiting the Hydro Tulpa World Boss is inevitable. And doing that is not the hardest thing in the world, but bringing it down could take a while if you’re not prepared enough.
Where to Find the Hydro Tulpa in Genshin Impact
The Hydro Tulpa boss is hidden in a cave deep inside the waters of the northern Beryl Region. So instead of trying to dive directly to where it is, teleport to an underwater Waypoint next to the Chemin de L’Espoir area and enter the open cave in it. Keep swimming until you finally reach a shore where you can walk, and that’s precisely where you’ll be fighting the boss from now on.
If that sounds like too much work, don’t worry. There’ll be a Waypoint waiting for you for the next subsequent fights. And believe me, there will be a ton of these. You still need to beat this fellow at least 16 times if you’re at Adventure Rank 55 or higher to fully ascend any character using its materials, so considering low drop runs, you’ll probably fight it over 20 times if you’re going all the way up to Lvl 90.
How to Beat the Hydro Tulpa in Genshin Impact
You probably already realized that, but the Hydro Tulpa is completely invulnerable to Hydro attacks, so don’t bring Hydro characters to your team unless you’re using them as healers. Prioritize Pyro, Electro, or Dendro characters, as they will naturally cause numerous elemental reactions by merely attacking the boss, which will help bring it down quickly.
Characters like Lyney, Raiden Shogun, or Alhaitham are prime choices for it as they can easily ditch their HP whenever it’s vulnerable to hits. Bring other supports while also avoiding the occasional Hydro characters. Cryo, Geo and Anemo don’t bring any particular advantage, but are good options too.
Most of its attacks are slow and easy to predict, but they easily deplete a huge chunk of your health, so keep your healers ready if your dodging game is not on point. Shielders are also good, especially if they offer some offensive utility like Zhongli. Be extra wary of when it does its three wind-ups before pouncing the ground violently as this is its trickiest move.
You’ll notice how the Tulpa is constantly summoning allies to the fight. These smaller minions (or Half-Tulpas) can be absorbed by their creator to buff them and heal for a bit of health, so try to destroy them as soon as you can. It’ll temporarily stun the boss, leaving it open for another onslaught. The Tulpa’s HP is considerably bigger than most other World Bosses but still manageable.
Once you beat it, you should be ready to ascend any character that might need its materials, such as Furina as long as you picked their specialty, too, of course. And that could be the absolute most challenging part.
