Capcom has been going Resident Evil crazy over the past year between HD remakes of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica and the forthcoming Resident Evil 6, which appears to be the biggest entry in the series to date. Capcom isn’t forgetting the past, however, and rumor has it that they’re considering a remake of Resident Evil 2…but only if fans want it bad enough.
“Just to lay all the cards on the table, that way there’s no rumor-mongering or things like that, no, we are not working on a Resident Evil 2 remake as of now,” Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi told GameSpot in an interview.
“But if the fans really clamor for it; if there’s a groundswell of support for remaking that game, then I think that’s something Capcom would take under consideration.”
Considering how big Resident Evil’s fanbase is as of late, we can’t think of who wouldn’t want it. The original version of Resident Evil 2 is available for PlayStation Network as a PS One classic, but new version with better graphics would definitely treat this game right.
Meanwhile, watch out for Resident Evil 6 when it releases this Tuesday for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3!
