How Good Are the New Fontaine Gacha Weapons in Genshin Impact? – Answered

No handouts, eh?

Weapons are dropping left and right from HoYoverse headquarters, and while these are limited to the gacha banner in Genshin Impact, there are a few that you should keep an eye on. Here’s a breakdown of the new weapons entering the weapon banner pool, who they are good with, and which you should aim to get.

The Dockhand’s Assistant (Sword)

“When the wielder is healed or heals others, they will gain a Stoic’s Symbol that lasts 30 seconds, up to a maximum of 3 Symbols. When using their Elemental Skill or Burst, all Symbols will be consumed and the Roused effect will be granted for 10 seconds. For each Symbol consumed, gain 40 Elemental Mastery, and 2 seconds after the effect occurs, 2 Energy per Symbol consumed will be restored for said character. The Roused effect can be triggered once every 15 seconds, and Symbols can be gained even when the character is not on the field.”

As one of the two swords in the entirety of Genshin Impact, the Dockhand’s Assistant is an incredibly valuable weapon within the game. With a main stat of HP Percentage, this can do wonders for various characters that benefit from the stat, old and new alike. Now, while it does look like something out of Attack on Titan, and it certainly isn’t the prettiest thing around, this sword is best suited for the following characters: Nilou, Kuki Shinobu, Bennett, Xingqui, Layla, and Kirara.

These characters have a boost that comes from HP, whether it’s due to their healing or due to their damage output and efficiency, the Dockhand’s Assistant is a sword that cannot be overlooked. Genshin Impact was fairly smart to make it part of the gacha banner since it does increase the value of this banner based on its mere presence being in it.

Although its passives may only deal in Elemental Mastery and Healing, this doesn’t mean it’s specifically for a healer, and as long as that team member is healed whether they are on the field or not, the effect will still play out. The main reason to pull overall would be to get it for the main stat.

Portable Power Saw (Claymore)

The Portable Power Saw is another Claymore weapon to have the main stat of HP. However, there are fewer characters within the claymores that require the HP stat, like sword-users do. And while it also boosts Elemental Mastery, the Portable Power Saw is like the Dockhand’s Assistant, valued mainly for its HP Stat.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a weapon as equally useless as the Bell, but somehow Genshin Managed to deliver one. The Portable Power Saw can do a little bit of good, though. Dehya and Dori are the only characters who actively benefit from the HP Stat on a claymore. With the addition of recovering HP and energy, the Elemental Mastery can do a lot of good for Dori. Dehya can benefit from many of the similar effects although Elemental Mastery might be tricky when trying to find a character she can actually work with to do EM damage.

Prospector’s Drill (Polearm)

“When the wielder is healed or heals others, they will gain a Unity’s Symbol that lasts 30 seconds, up to a maximum of 3 Symbols. When using their Elemental Skill or Burst, all Symbols will be consumed and the Struggle effect will be granted for 10 seconds. For each Symbol consumed, gain a 3% Attack and 7% All Elemental Damage Bonus. The Struggle Effect can be triggered once every 15 seconds, and Symbols can be gained even when the character is not on the field.”

The following weapons have altered stats but work off the same premise of using healing to trigger the passive effects. With a main stat of Attack, this weapon can be workable on just about any unit that deals damage on or off the field. There aren’t many polearms that require specific stats to deal damage, so this weapon can be equipped on just about anyone if you lack this specific type of weapon.

Most characters that can easily take advantage of these stats include Xiangling, Xiao, Rosario, Shenhe, and Cyno. While this can be equipped onto other characters such as Hu Tao, Zhongli, or Candace, those characters typically do better off HP Percentage.

Range Gauge (Bow)

“When the wielder is healed or heals others, they will gain a Unity’s Symbol that lasts 30 seconds, up to a maximum of 3 Symbols. When using their Elemental Skill or Burst, all Symbols will be consumed and the Struggle effect will be granted for 10 seconds. For each Symbol consumed, gains a 3% Attack and 7% All Elemental Damage Bonus. The Struggle effect can be triggered once every 15 seconds, and Symbols can be gained even when the character is not on the field.”

Since most archers already deal Elemental Damage Bonus, Range Gauge is also a good weapon to equip many characters if you find that you are lacking in the weapon. Characters who work off of Attack and deal damage would use this bow well. While this could be an excellent bow for Lyney if you don’t already have a five-star placed on him, this can go on any other characters, such as Tighnari, Collei, Kujou Sara, and Tartaglia. It’s all become a matter of finding the right bow that goes with that character, whether you want to focus on Elemental Mastery, Energy Recharge, or straight Attack.

Which New 4.1 Fontaine Gacha Weapon Should You Aim For in Genshin Impact?

Out of all the weapons, trying to aim for one of the few four stars on the weapon banner is a hard push. It isn’t guaranteed that you’ll get one; it is only an increased chance. Still, out of these weapons, the most valuable weapon would be the Dockhand’s Assistant (Sword) since it is one of the only Four-Star swords with the HP stat that several characters in Genshin Impact require for their build.

Although its passives may limit its quality, it can still be used as a support weapon for characters such as Layla and Kuki Shinobu who need Elemental Mastery to do damage and increase her healing.

The next best weapon to get would be the Range Gauge (Bow) since it has universal effects that could be good for several characters. Great bows can be limited to events or have niche stats that usually benefit support.

Whenever these two weapons pop up on the banner for increased chances, it is highly recommended to pull and hope that there’s a great Five-Star weapon you’ve had your eye on in the process.

There are many new weapons within the region of Fontaine, so be sure to check out the following guides for the other ones that are now in rotation. Whether they can be crafted or bought from the Battlepass, you’re sure to find a new addition to add to your arsenal.
