Can You r_cleardecals in CS2? – Answered

Seems that the contract with Clear Decals cleaning company has been terminated.

Back in CS:GO, r_cleardecals was a console command that was used to clear decals on the map you’re playing, namely bullet holes, blood spatters, explosion marks from HE and flash grenades, burn marks from Molotov and incendiary grenades so that you could see enemies better. However, when I first booted up CS2, I found that this command didn’t exist, and I wondered if there was a replacement command for r_cleardecals in CS2 that clears decals. I am delivering my findings to you below.

Is There a Clear Decals Console Command in CS2?

At the time of writing this article in early September and CS2 still in its Beta stage, there is no console command to clear decals in CS2. One of the reasons for this may be that Valve prefers to avoid allowing players to locally change stuff in the match that would net them a competitive advantage (even if it’s nominally a marginal change).

There are other new clear decals console commands put in place in CS2, but all of them are “cheat protected,” meaning you won’t be able to use them in Competitive CS2 Matchmaking or the new Premier mode we’ve talked about. For informational purposes, I will list the commands below anyway, so you can use them with bots (do not forget to enable cheats by typing in sv_cheats 1):

  • cl_removedecals
  • r_csgo_render_decals false
  • r_drawdecals false

Will Valve Add r_cleardecals Later to CS2?

Valve will most probably not add a clear decals command available for players on cheat-protected servers. If you ask me, it’s terrible to allow a command some players do not even know about, especially when it may provide a significant advantage to the user.
