Those who thought Halo 3 is to be called Forerunner were apparently all subject to an April Fool’s prank.

DM Duo Maxwell originally posted the supposedly inaccurate information on the Xbox.com forums, claiming the text he transcribed had come straight out of a Game Informer magazine.
The post claimed that Halo 3 will have “huge persistent worlds” adapted from Halo 2’s engine, the Master Chief will be the protagonist and the game will feature four-player co-op.
A post from someone at Bungie [link] claimed the information is completely fabricated, adding “We can’t smack ‘em for an April Fool’s gag. Not like we never did any”. Interesting.
