It’s Almost Time for the July 2023 Squirtle Pokemon GO Community Day Classic

It's time to get the Squirtle Squad back together.

Niantic’s Community Day Classics are a great way for players both new and old to have a second chance at catching the featured Pokemon once more. Starting January 2022, Community Day Classics have been a welcome addition to the Pokemon GO event lineup. This month is no exception, with Squirtle getting another chance in the spotlight after five long years. Keep reading to learn everything we currently know about the Pokemon GO July 2023 Community Day Classic which features Squirtle.

Date and Time of the Pokemon GO Community Day Classic

Squirtle will be the star of the July 2023 Pokemon GO Community Day Classic which will be held on July 9, 2023. The event will take place in a three-hour span from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time. Make sure that you play during this time and complete any event-related research before the event ends!

Everything Included in the Squirtle Community Day Classic

The most important element of any Community Day is that the featured Pokemon will be appearing in the wild at a much higher frequency than normal. Hopefully, you will be able to encounter some shiny Squirtle during these encounters!

The following bonuses will be active during event hours:

  • Incense activated during the event lasts for three hours.
  • Lure modules activated during the event lasts for three hours.
  • Egg distance will be 1/4 of normal distance when placed in an incubator during the event period.
  • Five Squirtle photo bomb opportunities when taking snapshots of your Pokemon.
  • Evolving a Blastoise between 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM local time will result in it learning the special move, Hydro Cannon.

One of the more exciting elements for Squirtle specifically is that when you complete event-related Field Research tasks, you will be rewarded with encounters with Sunglasses Squirtle. Sunglasses Squirtle can also potentially be shiny. You really gotta catch ’em all this time! I know that they were my favorite part of the original Squirtle Community Day and I need to catch one more to complete my shiny collection!

As always Niantic will offer a Community Day Special Research ticket in the shop for $1 USD which will differ in your local currency. These always consist of simple tasks related to catching Squirtle, using berries, evolving, etc., and reward the trainer with additional Squirtle encounters.

Good luck with your shiny Squirtle hunt this July trainers! With two shiny versions to catch, I do hope that RNG is on your side! Have you had any luck catching a shiny Azelf yet? Make sure you give it a go whilst they are still the current Pokemon rotating through Pokemon GO Raids!
