The summer may be about over, but the Rock Band Blitz party is about to begin.  The game, set to release on August 28th on PlayStation Network and a day later on Xbox Live Arcade, features a whole new way to play through your song library, using track set-up that’s similar to previous games by Harmonix, like Amplitude and Frequency.  What’s more, they’ve just added five more songs to the mix, along with a number of power-ups.  The included songs are as follows…

Foo Fighters – “These Days”

Kelly Clarkson – “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”

Maroon 5 – “Moves Like Jagger”

Queen – “Death on Two Legs”

Red Hot Chili Peppers – “Give It Away”

Soundgarden – “Spoonman”

“We spent a lot of time making sure the Rock Band Blitz soundtrack was just right,” Chris Rigopulos, Harmonix’s Vice President of Music and Strategy, said. “There are a handful of artists that are new to the Rock Band catalog, as well as solid tracks from fan favorites and classic artists. These are handpicked tracks that we made sure are not only fun to play in Rock Band Blitz, but make an awesome addition to your Rock Band 3 music library at a great value.”

Remember, if you have Rock Band 3, these and the other previously introduced songs will be playable in your game.

What’s more, the company released a new video talking about the various power-ups that you can use throughout the game, which you can view here.

Get ready to rock!  (And leave your plastic guitar aside, at least for now…)
