Where to Get Sparks of Shadowflame in WoW Dragonflight

Spark sequels.

Update: As of patch 10.1.5, Splintered Sparks of Shadowflame drop from the new Dawn of the Infinite megadungeon as a catch-up mechanic. You will only be awarded Splinters to bring your total in line with the amount you would have been able to earn up to that point.

Season 2 of World of Warcraft Dragonflight is upon us, and with it comes a replacement for Sparks of Ingenuity – last season’s reagent for crafting powerful Epic gear. The new reagent, called Spark of Shadowflame, can be earned in a similar, albeit simplified, way. Let’s learn how to earn these reagents together.

Where to Get Sparks of Shadowflame in WoW Dragonflight

First thing’s first, you can earn one Spark of Shadowflame right away by completing the quest Power Unified, available in Loamm after completing the tutorial quest for the new Campaign, Embers of Neltharion. This quest simply requires you to find a single Splintered Spark of Shadowflame, which you can combine two of to create a Spark of Shadowflame. Put simply, this quest gives you a free bonus Splinter right away. So how do you find the other?

Finding Splintered Sparks of Shadowflame

Once per week, you can earn a single Splintered Spark of Shadowflame in one of two ways:

Complete the Weekly Renown Quest in Loamm – Earn 1500 Renown with the Loamm Niffen

OR

Complete the Weekly PvP Quest – Obtain Honor in Battlegrounds, Arena Skirmishes, or Rated Arenas (depending on the weekly quest available in the Gladiator’s Refuge in Valdrakken)

You can probably guess which one of these most players will opt for, especially considering Renown with the Loamm Niffen unlocks a host of collectibles and is easily racked up when exploring Zaralek Caverns.

Combining two Splintered Sparks of Shadowflame will grant you a Spark of Shadowflame. After the first week, you’ll earn a single Spark of Shadowflame by completing one of these two weekly quests indefinitely. Much like Sparks of Ingenuity, we can likely expect a “catch up” system down the line for players who don’t keep up with these every single week, so don’t fret too much if you fall behind.
