Earthworm Jim Will Ride Again, says David Perry

Maybe Kickstarter will make things right for Jim.

Earthworm Jim, one of the most beloved (and original) franchises from the 16-bit days, has had a bumpy past few years since his 16-bit heyday. Earthworm Jim 3D didn’t do the hero any favors on Nintendo 64, and the animated series didn’t exactly go over with fans as planned. Thankfully, Gameloft’s Earthworm Jim HD release didn’t do half bad, and David Perry, one of the creative minds behind the comical hero, believe there’s life left in him yet.

According to an interview with Eurogamer (link: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-07-17-david-perry-sure-a-new-earthworm-jim-will-be-made), Perry believes that Jim is primed for a comeback, and even suggested that a Kickstarter would help move the franchise in the right direction.

“He’s been sitting at home watching movies and eating popcorn. He’s grossly overweight now” said Perry. “The plan was to start with him literally getting off the sofa, and it’s a disaster because he just hasn’t done anything since. But he’s got to get back into action again.”

Oh, and don’t worry, fans. Perry won’t make the mistake of letting a 3D crap-fest happen. The new game will, in fact, be 2D.

We just hope it arrives sooner rather than later. We need to whip folks with our head again. In the meantime, check out Earthworm Jim HD and go have some fun. Whoa Nellie!!!
