Sequels are always expected to bring something bigger and better to the table, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is no different. So far, Respawn Entertainment has boasted about the increase in the size of the game, which means more room for Cal Kestis to explore, but does that mean an open world?
We know that Jedi: Fallen Order was a semi-open world that leaned much closer to something like Dark Souls in terms of level design. There are linear paths that progressively open up like a Metroidvania. That feature could expand, and in this Jedi Survivor guide, we’ll cover whether you can expect more of the same, or an open world.
Jedi Survivor – Is the Game Open World?
After the latest round of previews for the game went live, we have a much better idea of what the game will be like in terms of size. Players can expect a mix between a semi-open world and a full-blown open world. The best comparison is to the realms used within God of War Ragnarok.
There are about seven different planets that Cal Kestis can explore in Jedi Survivor and each one is its own self-contained map. Unlike Fallen Order, these will be areas with their own characters, quests, and enough surface area to warrant flying mounts. So while some of the linear pathing will remain, there will be much more area to explore.

This doesn’t mean that the Metroidvania elements found in the first game won’t still be available, but it seems like it may take a back seat in favor of open-world exploration. So far, only one major planet has been revealed and soon enough we’ll have a much better idea of the size of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
