How to Solve the Cave Puzzles in Resident Evil 4 Remake

What a way to throw people into the puzzle fire.

Resident Evil 4 Remake refuses to shy away from the series’ iconically obscure puzzle solutions. Whether it be something complex like moving stained glass, or something basic like a combination lock, you’re sure to be scratching your head no matter where in the game you go. Finding that solution is always a sweet feeling though. One set of two puzzles comes early on in the game, but is very confusing if you don’t know where to look. Here’s how to solve the cave puzzles in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

The Cave Shrines can first be found after defeating Del Lago within the large lake. You’ll need to visit two different cave shrines across a large cave system, and unlock two doors that have eight symbols on each of them. Given how bizarre each of the symbols are, trying to find the solution can be a bit tricky. It’s much easier than you’d be led to believe though.

Small Cave Shrine

The first cave puzzle is found at the Small Cave Shrine. To find the answer, you must locate all three symbols scattered around the cave, then input them into the symbol lock. The locations of the three symbols can be found below:

In case you’re having trouble seeing the images, the symbols are the pillar with a snake wrapped around it, the three snakes, and the three strange symbols in a shape of a triangle. Input those into the symbol lock, and you’ll open the door to the first head.

Large Cave Shrine

The other cave puzzle is found, naturally, at the Large Cave Shrine. Exploring the nearby caves will show yellow murals of each symbol you need, or you can use our images below for guidance.

If you’re having trouble seeing the images again, the images are the two Cs with their backs against each other, the two symbols pointing up and down respectively, and the two split parts of a circle (we’re trying our best to explain these, but they’re difficult to put into words).

Once you’ve put those into the Large Cave Shrine’s lock, you’ll have the second and can place both in their spots within the Mural Cave. Good luck with the rest of the puzzles in the game, along with collecting all the weapons (which our guide can help with).
