E3 2012: Ubisoft: Why Rainbow 6: Patriots Was a No-show

“More information coming”

Rainbow 6: Patriots was held back from E3 due to it being “the best thing for the brand,” publisher Ubisoft has revealed when speaking to IGN.

Suspicion is often aroused when a title like this has been teased before E3 and doesn’t appear when there are new games such as Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Watch Dogs the public hadn’t previously seen a peep of at the show.

Ubisoft exec Tony Key has insisted the title is “still in active development” however.

“What we decided was that the best thing for the brand was to not bring it to the show right now,” said Key.

A trailer for the title appeared in December last year, involving domestic terrorism bundles with a little political scandal. In March it was revealed that Heavy Rain designer Jean-Sebastien Decant had jumped on board as captain of the Patriots ship.

Key said the reason the title wasn’t at the show was due to the Ubisoft lineup already being pretty full.

“We have a lot of other games that we want to focus people on and there will be more information on Rainbow coming.”

Quizzed on whether the game would be coming to current-gen consoles Key said:

“This is the only generation that I know about, so I would assume yes.”
