The Walking Dead: Episode One Scares Up a Million Copies Sold

The zombie comic book turned zombie television show turned zombie video game is popular. Zombie popular.

Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead: Episode One is solid proof that, if you get the right developer behind the project, you can make licensed fare really stand out in today’s video game market.  And now it looks like they’re being rewarded for their efforts, which is a good thing.

Telltale announced today that the game has sold over a million units since its release a few weeks back, across Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and Steam combined.  This marks a huge success for the series, which is just getting started.

“The most exciting aspect of getting off to such a great start is that this is just the beginning of the five episode series.  The Walking Dead fans are going to experience some really great moments in the months ahead that are uniquely influenced by the choices they make throughout the season,” said Telltale Games CEO Dan Connors.

The second episode, Starved For Help, is being prepped for a June release, and Telltale is sure to bask in the success of that release as well.  We can only hope that it’ll be sold for a similar $4.99 price.  (However, those who have a Season Pass don’t need to worry about that, since they get it for free.)
