Five Video Games That Deserve a Second Chance in 2024

Give it one more chance please

With so many video games releasing every week, there are always the ones that don’t perform well post-launch. While most terrible launches disappear from the minds of gamers, some titles do make comebacks. Let’s take five contenders who are worth a re-look in 2024.

Top 5 Video Games You Should Give a Second Chance in 2024

No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky is arguably the biggest redemption story in the video game world. Hello Games might have made some lofty ambitions at launch, but most of it went missing. From being a potential contender for GOTY, No Man’s Sky became one of the worst launches ever. But that was over five years ago, and things have changed for the better.

Hello Games has launched multiple free expansions over the last few years that have introduced a lot of new content. All of them have been free of cost, making it even better for the original buyers. In many ways, No Man’s Sky has finally become the game that it was always meant to be in the first place. It might have taken extra time, but it’s better late than never.

Battlefield 2042

This could be a controversial pick as Battlefield 2024 is by no means a perfect shooter. However, it has improved over the last year, and DICE has made fantastic changes. Listening to the community has bore rich dividends. New maps have allowed the community to feel more engaged, and seasonal passes have dropped fresh cosmetics as well.

The lack of single-player will haunt Battlefield 2042 for a long time, but it has left behind the terrible launch. Of course, there are still plenty of key areas that require improvements, but the shooter does deserve your time and investment in the current stage.

eFootball 2024

Nobody knows why Konami rebranded the PES series, and more importantly, decided to maintain the same features across mobiles and consoles. As a result, the console version turned out to be an outright disaster, making eFootball one of the worst-rated video games of all time. Over two years have passed since that terrible launch.

Today, the game is in a much better place in terms of gameplay, and it’s one area where eFootball 2024 is better than EA FC 24. Like Battlefield 2042, there are still many key features that are missing, like the Manager mode. While Konami has shifted its attention, focusing more on microtransactions, eFootball 2024 at least offers authentic football gameplay.

Rainbow Six Siege

Rainbow Six Siege has always fascinated me due to the unique nature of the shooter. It’s neither a CS: GO nor a Call of Duty. While the game takes time to learn, the results are rewarding. But it wasn’t always like that, and the first two years were rough. But Ubisoft managed to turn things around.

Today, plenty of different operators manage to keep the gameplay vibrant. Unlike in the early times, the operators have their personalities and their skills feel unique. Popular modes like Outbreak have also captured player attention, offering something different from the core experience. While Six Siege is one of the more challenging video games to learn, there has never been a better time than 2024.

Sea of Thieves

A few days back, Sea of Thieves was on the top of the charts on PlayStation in terms of demand. It’s not a surprise – at a time when Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones has turned out to be a big flop, Sea of Thieves is the best pirate simulator you could enjoy. Like all titles on this list, the initial few months were pretty disappointing.

Regular seasons and new quests have not only allowed the game to retain its player base, but it has also attracted new adventurers. While I have largely enjoyed Sea of Thieves solo, it’s an excellent title to play with your friends. The incredible popularity of PlayStation is a testament to Sea of Thieves’ strong position in the current gaming ecosystem.
