My Nintendo Physical Rewards List: Xenoblade and Splatoon Lead the Charge

It's the ghost of Club Nintendo's past!

Several years following the tragic demise of Club Nintendo, physical rewards have returned to Nintendo’s loyalty program. For a long time, the My Nintendo program offered only digital rewards, such as mobile game content, discount coupons for Wii U and 3DS games, and other goodies like wallpapers and printable art. But as of September 2020, it seems like Nintendo of America has finally brought back the merchandise. The offerings are slim so far, but hopefully only the beginning.

New Physical Rewards for My Nintendo: September 2020

As noted in the headline, the new My Nintendo physical rewards feature Xenoblade and Splatoon. There are three items in total, and oddly enough they cost Platinum Points. These are the coins you get for free by doing things like signing into your Nintendo account regularly. Gold coins, which you get for making eShop purchases, are still translating to currency you can use for subsequent purchases. The current rewards and costs are as follows:

  • Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition sticker sheets – 300 Points – three sheets of stickers featuring iconography and characters from Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition.
  • Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition phone ring holder – 500 Points – this item is a little model of the Monado, Shulk’s signature weapon in the game. You can stick it on the back of your mobile device, and use the small ring attached to it for extra grip, or more commonly as a little kickstand.
  • Splatoon 2 postcard set – 400 Points – This is a set of eight postcards, featuring original art from the Splatoon 2 team.

These rewards are subject to stock availability, and Nintendo is also charging a shipping fee. So these rewards aren’t one hundred-percent free like the Club Nintendo stuff was, but you don’t have to use paid Points to get them either. So it’s kind of a weird tradeoff compared to how Club Nintendo worked? Either way, many Nintendo fans lamented the loss of all the unique goodies Club Nintendo offered, so hopefully this is the start of a new, regular thing and not a one-off.
