Monster Hunter: World Sizzling Spice Fest Guide

An overview of all the trouble you can get into during the Sizzling Spice Fest!

It’s summer time in Monster Hunter: World! Starting today, July 22 2020 and running through August 6, hunters will be able to enjoy this year’s summer seasonal event. It’s called the Sizzling Spice Fest, and it’s bringing some South America-inspired affectations to Iceborne’s Seliana Gathering Hub. We’ll be dropping a few guides for the event, and we’re starting with an overview to explain the different activities and goodies at a high level.

Overview: Sizzling Spice Fest Guide

From now until August 6, you’ll see all kinds of colorful decorations outfitting the entire hub. And like other big events, you’ll start things off with some extra login bonuses. You get a bonus Lucky Voucher, a ticket for this and the previous summer event, fireworks, and snowmen. You’re also able to access nearly every previous Event Quest, with only a few exceptions.

The Seliana Gathering Hub offers a new Sizzling Spice Platter, and some event-related research requests from the Lynian Researcher. A set of limited-time bounties provides event items as well, and a new set will populate every 24 hours.

For the new Sizzling Spice Tickets, you can cash them in for a new event-themed armor set, along with a couple new event-themed armor sets for your Palico companion. Respectively, these are the Passion Set, the Aloha Set, and the Pukei Set. The Passion set isn’t very powerful, but it does come with several gathering skills and a boost for VIP Sizzling Spice Ticket drops. The VIP tickets, which only drop from quests, can be exchanged for the Layered version of the Passion Set, along with cosmetic items in the form of pendants and room decor.

In addition to the VIP tickets, you’ll also get new decorations just for showing up and visiting your room. The steamworks also gives you new Melding Tickets you can use for even more decoration items. New outfits for the Handler and Poogie also appear, and they’re automatically available for players after they visit the festive hub for the first time. You’ll be able to keep the Poogie outfit after the event ends, but like other Handler outfits this one will migrate over to paid DLC.

Finally, a set of new Event Quests are available, which produce unique tickets for their own sets of rewards. We’ll be covering those in their own guide, so keep an eye out for that!
