With that being said, getting started playing with your friends in MLB The Show 21 can be tricky if you don’t know what the required steps are. To help, we’ve put together a guide on how you can play with your friends in MLB The Show 21 and against friends on other platforms.

How to Play With Friends in MLB The Show 21

The first step when it comes to playing with your friends in MLB The Show 21 is adding those friends as a friend within the game itself. If you’re looking to play with a friend on another platform, you’ll also want to ensure that Cross Play is on in MLB The Show 21.

Below, we’ve listed the steps for both of these tasks.

How to Add Friends in MLB The Show 21

  • Main menu

  • Select Profile in the upper left corner

  • “My Profile” tab

  • Select “Friends”

  • Select “Requests”

  • Search for your friend by their username

  • If they’re having trouble finding their username let them know that their username can be found in the main menu’s upper left corner

  • Send a friend request

When done successfully, the other player should see a new friend request in their “Requests” tab which they can select and accept. They can also send you a friend request which you can accept from the “Requests” tab.

If you’re playing on the same platform – like you’re both playing on an Xbox console – this should be enough to start an Exhibition Game with your friend. If you’re planning to play with friends on another platform like PlayStation you’ll first need to make sure Cross Play is on.

How to Enable Cross Play in MLB The Show 21

  • Return to the main menu

  • Select profile in upper left corner

  • “My Profile” tab

  • Look for icon in “My Profile” to enable cross-play to the right of your profile picture

With Cross Play turned on, you should be able to play with friends on other platforms including PlayStation. That said, don’t forget to add your friends in MLB The Show 21 by following the steps outlined above.

With all of those steps complete, you can now play against your friends in MLB The Show 21.

To send out an invite to a game, you’ll need to do the following…

How to Invite Friend to a Game in MLB The Show 21

  • Return to main menu

  • Select profile in upper left corner

  • Select “Friends”

  • Select the friend you want to invite

  • Invite to Exhibition Game

You can then do things like select the team you want to play and get started playing against one another. If you aren’t looking to play an Exhibition Match, it’s worth noting that you can play other modes but you’ll need to load into that game mode first before you send out an invite to your friend.

For example, you can play with friends in the Diamond Dynasty game mode through the Online Modes of MLB The Show 21 by selecting “Play VS Friends”.

Personally, we recommend starting off with an Exhibition Game especially if you’re looking for the quickest way to jump into a game with your friend in MLB The Show 21. And with that out of the way, we hope you enjoy playing with your friends on the same platform and via Cross Play in MLB The Show 21!
