Mario Kart 8 is about to spread its wings as Nintendo has announced new downloadable content (DLC) that will add Link from The Legend of Zelda in one installment, and the villager and Isabelle from the Animal Crossing series in a second installment. The DLC was first posted on Nintendo’s official UK store and each installment is listed at $7.99 or $11.99 for a bundle with both.

In addition to the new franchise characters, the first DLC pack will include Cat Peach and Tanooki Mario, as well as four new vehicles and eight new race tracks. The first DLC will be available sometime around November in the UK with a similar release date in the US. The second DLC pack includes Dry Bowser alongside the two Animal Crossing characters and is slated to be available in May 2015. This pack will also include four additional vehicles and eight new tracks.

“Each Add On Content pack will contain two new cups, each with four courses, which, in total, increases the number of available courses by 50 percent,” as stated on the UK store. “The Add On Content packs include classics like Wario’s Gold Mine from Mario Kart Wii, as well as new courses, some taking place in the worlds of The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing. New vehicles will also arrive with each pack, including the Blue Falcon kart representing the F-Zero franchise in the first AOC pack.”

Players who purchase both DLC packs will receive bonus content with eight new colors for Yoshi and eight new colors for Shy Guy. Both sets of alternate colors can be used immediately following the purchase.
