Evo 2017 Game Announcement Date

Later this month competitive fighting game players will know what games to expect at Evo 2017.

The annual Evolution Fighting Game Championship (Evo) is the biggest tournament for competitive fighting games. Thousands of players flock to Las Vegas, Nevada to stake their claim as the best in the world. While the event will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center and take place July 14-16, the games are still unknown. That all changes very soon as the official Evo games announcement will take place on January 24, 2017.

In previous years the announcement has been hosted on the main Evo Twitch channel, but that information has yet to be confirmed for the coming announcement. In addition, long-time Evo coordinator, Joey Cuellar, has teased players by asking which seven games they expect to be announced. While this isn’t 100 percent confirmation there will be seven games represented at Evo 2017 (Cuellar is known to troll from time to time), it’s safe to assume there will be at least seven games.

While Capcom fighting games generally take center stage at Evo, Namco, Arc Systems, Sega, Warner Bros. and other fighting game publishers have had their games featured in previous years. At Evolution 2016 the lineup consisted of Street Fighter 5, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Wii U, Guity Gear Xrd Revelator, Mortal Kombat X, Pokken Tournament, Killer Instinct, Tekken 7: Fated Retribution and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. With Tekken 7 (console) and Injustice 2 due to arrive before Evo 2017, most are expecting both new games to be included this year.

Stay tuned to Prima Games as we’ll have more on Evolution 2017 later this month when the games are announced!
