Tomb Raider 2018 – What is the Survivor Theme Song in the Trailer?

Recognize the song from the trailer of the latest Tomb Raider 2018 trailer, but aren’t sure where it’s from? We’ve got the answer.
This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider series have been around for over twenty years now, and the series itself has seen several changes and evolutions over the years. During that time Lara Croft, the tomb-raiding adventurer at the center of the series, has made her way into the hearts of fans around the world. The latest iteration of the series comes in the form of a reboot of the video game, as well as a return to Hollywood for a new film.

Those who watched the new trailer might have recognized the song that plays alongside fans first sneak peek at Croft’s next adventure. While the song in the trailer is actually a remix, the source material that it came from is an old song that people may recognize from the early 2000s. The original song, called “Survivor” was originally sang by an American R&B Destiny’s Child. The band was fairly popular in the late-90s, with songs like Say My Name, Bootylicious, and others often topping the billboards.

Survivor was released in 2001, a short seven months after the PlayStation release of Tomb Raider: Chronicles. Unfortunately, even with songs like Survivor under their belt, Destiny’s Child would disband five years later, with their final performance happening during their farewell in 2006. The remix of the original song sounds great behind the trailer, though, and while there isn’t a full version of it available yet (we don’t know if one is even coming), you can find a video with the original song listed above.

It will be interesting to see where the new Tomb Raider film goes, and we like many of the fans of the series are excited to see what Warner Bros has in store. The games thus far have helped rebirth the series, and the new iteration appears to be something that most of the fanbase can get excited about. For now, though, we’ll have to settle with the trailer and knowing that Lara’s new adventure looks like a fun ride.
