It can be so gosh dang-darn difficult to figure out a new region’s unique items and where they are located each time they unlock in Genshin Impact. However, for the first time ever (I’m pretty sure), Fontaine has opened up with an event that is all about searching for region-unique items, where to find them, and granting rewards for collecting enough and broadening your horizons. This can also really help to get the region itself unlocked through all the waypoints and make your life so much easier in the long run. So where do we start?
Event Guide for Relic Records: Creations of the Hydro Nation in Genshin Impact
Relic Records is divided by a bunch of chapters that require you to either seek out creatures that exist in Fontaine or collect region-exclusive items such as plants, or you will be tasked with finding the Bosses of this region and engaging in battle with them.Â
I. The Forest’s Greenery
II. Brave the Waves
III. Ripples on an Azure Sea
IV. Thornbreaker, Weedwhacker
For the item-seeking portion, this event has graciously placed Event Icons on the map for us so that it narrows down the area Travelers need to be in to look for those certain items. Then it’s all a matter of gathering enough to satisfy the quest. These can be indicated in the images above, where you will see Book Icons appear on your Fontaine map that will indicate where these clusters of plants can be found. If you look in the upper left-hand corner where your mini-map is, you’ll see the area indicated by a yellow barrier where a majority of the items will appear.
In other areas, it’ll lead you to where enemies are, and your only task is defeating enough of them to satisfy the event’s requirements. This allows you to get used to the new type of gameplay mechanics that are also present in Fontaine, such as the Pneuma/Ousia Vision Mechanics, and gather Hydrogana to build up a field of Hydro around your present character.Â
These monsters can be found much in the same way you would select enemies in your Adventurer’s Journal since, from the Relic Records, you can choose to Go To Challenge, and the game will automatically lead you to where the enemies are currently. Then it’s just a matter of defeating their numbers to claim all your rewards!

The last of these challenges just require players to defeat the different versions of the Bosses in Fontaine, Icewind Suite, and Emperor of Fire and Iron. Icewind Suite has two different versions of its battle, so be sure to check out our guide on how to engage in the Icewind Suite Boss Battle. And the Emperor of Fire and Iron is a fire crab under the depths of the Fontaine Lake that has a large Pyro shield built up around itself, so naturally, Hydro and Cryo are going to be its greatest enemies unless you really like blowing stuff up with Electro. To figure out how to get to the Emperor of Fire and Iron, check out this guide to save yourself some time searching. Like the other boss, you will be required to battle two versions of the Emperor. However, his appears in a way that replicates a twin, so you’ll need to defeat them at least once to claim your rewards.
