The Keo Ruug shrine can be found in the middle of the Great Hyrule Forest. Follow these directions if you’re trying to make it there in search of a certain legendary item. Once you arrive you can find the Keo Ruug shrine to the right of the masterful armament. It’s best to at least activate the shrine before you do anything else so you don’t have to worry about finding the area again.

Explaining the Puzzle

Once you’re inside the Keo Ruug shrine you’re greeted with two rows of sphere holes on each side of the room. There’s a platform in the middle with a sign that reads, “Look to the stars for guidance. The constellations are key.” You’ll also find two spheres on either side of the platform.

The objective here is to look at the constellation chart on the far wall, as well as the four constellations on the far side of each row of holes. You should also note the lamps lining either side of the room. These lamps act like numbers with one lamp sitting by the first row of holes, two lamps by the next row, all the way down to five lamps by the row of holes closest to the entrance. These lamps number the rows one through five.

Solving the Puzzle

To solve the first puzzle you need to  look at the constellation that goes with each row and see how many times it appears on the far wall. Place a sphere in the hole that matches the number of times it shows up on the far wall with the numbered row. For instance, the first row to the left (from the perspective of standing at the entrance) shows the small three star constellation. This constellation appears five times on the far wall so one sphere should be placed on the fifth row (the one closest to the entrance) marked by five lamps.

Place the spheres in the correct holes and the gate will open. However, before you speak with the monk, look to the right to see another gate with a chest behind it. On the wall above the gate is another set of constellations. Make note the constellations (or use the image below), then head back into the previous room and rearrange the spheres using the number of constellations on the wall above the chest gate. Don’t worry, the first gate won’t close if you move the spheres.

Once you have the spheres arranged properly the gate will open and you can access the chest to obtain a Knight’s Claymore (38 Attack). Now you can speak with the monk and pick up another Spirit Orb.

Puzzle Solutions (from left to right standing at the entrance)

  • Chest Gate – 4, 2, 2, 1
