by Prima Games Staff

With two floors dedicated to the last 40 years of gaming history and a retro arcade at the very top, Super Potato is the pinnacle of retro game stores. You can find this shrine to gamer nirvana in the bustling neighborhood of Akihabara— a part of Tokyo that has become the electrical epicenter of all things anime, manga and game related. It’s quite possible it houses the largest collection of retro video games and merchandise in the world.

Although it’s is the ultimate playground for Famicon fans, the store’s impressive variety of consoles and games will leave people in awe. From the conventional to the downright unusual, you are sure to find an interesting variety of old games and rare collectors items. Some are so rare they’re not even for sale!

On that note, join us as we go inside Super Potato to find the coolest pieces of gaming history.

Note: The Sega Genesis is known as the Mega Drive in Japan, and released in 1988. The Mega Drive Play TV came later.
