Witcher 3 Next-Gen: How to Start New Game Plus

The Witcher 3 has received its next-gen update for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. For fans hopping back into The Witcher 3 or new fans entirely, there is plenty to sink your teeth into. With updated visuals and performance, it’s like experiencing the game for the first time. If you’ve finished the game and want to run a New Game+, here is how to start it.

Witcher 3 Next-Gen: How to Start New Game Plus

Before the next-gen update, you used to need to download the New Game+ DLC; however, with this new update, that is no longer required. New Game + is available from the base install.

Once you’ve finished the main story of The Witcher 3, save your game. From here, go to the main menu and click “New Game.”

After starting a fresh file, you will be asked to select the difficulty and if you would like to simulate Witcher 2 save. After choosing both options, go to the “New Game Plus” section and turn it on. This will allow you to carry over everything from your previous save and have it from the very beginning of the game. It will make encounters more challenging because the game knows you have high-level gear from the start.

Geralt’s level, gear, and other items will carry over into New Game Plus. So you’ll be a machine from the jump. Of course, more complex challenges await you as you traverse the world and cities of The Witcher 3.
