What Does Face Camping Mean In Dead By Daylight?

As you can see in the photo above, I’ve been placed on a hook, left to bleed out in my last agonizing moments of life. You can also see the terrifying visage of Bubba from the Sawyer family, just hanging out with me to make sure I don’t try any funny business. This is an instance of Face Camping or staying unnaturally close to a survivor that may be a threat to their overall goal.

Why do people want to Face Camp, however? Well, it’s a great way to rack up some extra damage on Survivors that are trying to come in for a save on their friend, or in the case of The Cannibal, a great way to secure an extra down if a Survivor has been caught off guard with a swift chainsaw to the abdomen.

Bubba, in particular, has a bit of a reputation for being a Face Camper since his powerful alternative attack is fast and covers a wide range, giving him ample opportunity to get a quick down on someone that just wants to keep every Survivor in the game for as long as possible. Sure, it’s not great to be on the receiving end of this tactic, but Behaviour has been working on ways to implement changes to prevent Face Camping from being the new Meta for the game.

How Can You Counter Face Camping In Dead By Daylight?

There are a few ways that you can counter Face Camping, but none of them are the prettiest options available. Since your Killer seems to want you, in particular, dead on the hook, you can continue to buy time for your team while they try to smash through as many generators as possible in the time that you’re on the hook.

There aren’t any particularly strong Perks that can help you in this situation, as the Killer has one particular goal in mind. However, if you find yourself being one of the first players on the hook rather often, you could always run the following in your build:

  • Kindred (Shows the location of other survivors/Killer on the map)
  • Deliverance (Allows you to pull yourself off of the hook, requires a Hook Save first)
  • Reassurance (Players can put this on you to give you more time on the hook without dying)
  • Resilience (Lets you unhook players faster when in the injured state)

If you are somehow able to either trade with another Survivor or you pull yourself off, there’s a great chance that you’re going to get tunneled afterward since the Killer seems to have something against you in particular. Prepare yourself for a great chase or for a chance to get downed once again.

Killers can also run perks that help them in their pursuit of the 4K, such as Insidious. This particular Perk makes the challenge of saving a friend even more difficult, as it completely hides their Terror Radius for a set amount of time. This could make the task of Surviving near impossible for a group unless they’re playing in a SWF with other buddies of theirs. Strategy is key when it comes to saving someone captured by a Face Camper, so be prepared for the showdown of a lifetime.
