Uniques are the most coveted tier of items in Diablo 4, offering big buffs and interesting effects that can elevate a build. But sometimes you’ll get a duplicate or a bad roll. When that happens, you might be tempted to Salvage it. Here’s what happens if you Salvage a Unique item in Diablo 4.

I’ll be honest, there’s been a few times in my life where I’ve been struck with the chaotic impulse to do something stupid. And rather than listen to reason, I just follow that impulse through. That’s what happened with my first Unique item, Mother’s Embrace, which I opted to Salvage out of curiosity.

But salvaging a unique item isn’t worth it. You get the same materials that you would for salvaging a legendary item, such as a Coiling Ward (armor), Baleful Fragment (weapon), Abstruse Sigil (jewelry), or Veiled Crystal (all). There are no special materials given for salvaging a Unique item. You don’t even get more salvage material than usual.

If you don’t want to waste a storage slot on a Unique item, your best option is to sell it. Unique items are worth significantly more than your average Legendary item. But it’s best to keep that Unique item for a little longer, as you’ll be rolling a new character with each new season of Diablo 4. This is true if your Unique item suits all character classes.
