Escape from Tarkov’s patch 0.15 introduced a new game mode called “Marathon.” Marathons are games where you can travel from one map to another, making one playthrough last multiple raid sessions. In patch 0.15.2, they permanently added the Marathon mechanic as your regular raid in Escape from Tarkov. Players can prolong their playthrough or run specific tasks that need you to go through multiple raids in one go. However, how does a player travel between maps in any raid? Here’s how you can do that and all the mechanics involved when using the transit locations.

How to Travel Between Maps in Escape from Tarkov

Traveling between maps used to be the Marathon game mode in Escape from Tarkov, but they permanently added this feature as the base game mode in patch 0.15.2. Players can travel to a different map from any map in Escape from Tarkov. It makes the game more dangerous because prolonging raids increases the risks of failure, especially if you are going through multiple maps.

To travel from map to map, you must find the transit locations from one map to another. Some maps don’t have a direct line to most of the maps. For example, if you want to go to Shoreline from Customs, you must go to Reserve and Lighthouse first.

If you check the image above, you’ll see how each map is connected to the others. The maps with connected lines have a transit location between them. For example, Streets of Tarkov and Interchange have a line between them, so you can travel from Streets to Interchange and vice versa.

This rule doesn’t apply to the Labs map, as you can only exit the Labs to the Streets of Tarkov.

The transit locations open after the first minute of the raid. Some PMC spawns are close to some transit locations, so they can be very dangerous when rushing to transit.

Once you move from one map to another, you can stash valuable items you found in the raid for a price. This is great to get your quest items secured. For other stashing objective-based tasks, you’ll have to choose the proper map so you don’t go through many maps.

If you have a task like the Special Comms, where you need to place some Military Cables and Bulbex Cable Cutters in Woods and Reserve in one raid, you can start on Woods or Reserve. You don’t want to combine other tasks that are far away from each other. Choose the safest and most efficient routes based on your current tasks.

Note: Player Scavs can also travel from map to map, giving PMCs a more perilous task when transiting.

How to Travel From Map to Map With a Group in EFT

The transit mechanics for groups are the following:

  • Players can only use the transit if all living members are in the transit zone.
  • If you use the transit with another player not in a group with you, you’ll still get transferred to the next map together.
  • Solo players can also travel with other groups (as long as you trust them, I guess).

It is best to travel with a group, especially when completing tasks, because it lessens the risk of failing. Playing as a group has more advantages than disadvantages because solo players or smaller groups will avoid fighting a big group. You’ll have more eyes on any location and can strategize properly to raid locations properly. As long as the group isn’t shooting each other and destroying their PMC Karma, group play is the safest way to travel from map to map.
