Diablo 4 doesn’t mess around when it comes to the difficulty of its dungeons. Some aren’t too difficult and won’t require you to think about it too much, though others can offer some serious challenges and headaches. One such dungeon is located rather early on near the starting town of Nevesk, though has a final boss that can be staggeringly difficult for a first-time run-through. Here’s how to defeat the Broodguard Spider in Diablo 4.

The Broodguard Spider’s lair can be found at the end of the Defiled Catacomb dungeon, located East of the Nevesk waypoint. Most of the dungeon itself is fairly straightforward like most dungeons, simply killing a bunch of enemies and interacting with one or two things. The main challenge comes during the dungeon’s finale, where you enter the Broodguard Spider’s lair. You should be ready for a serious fight if you haven’t entered the arena already.

How Do You Deal With the Broodguard Spider’s Attacks?

The Broodguard Spider has a few main methods of attack. It will spew out toxic globes to attempt to poison you from range, along with sending out immobilizing webs that can let it get free hits on you. It also has a standard melee attack that you’ll need to be cautious of. The biggest issue of all though is when its minions enter the picture, with several Spider Hosts causing more long-term issues than other mobs.

If you’re a melee class, you’ll want to get up close and personal with the Broodguard Spider during most stages of the fight. Kiting around the poison and webs can do you wonders to keep your health up, as can Damage Reduction skills like the Taunt of Barbarians. When it spawns in its minions, you want to get as far away from the main Spider as possible to clean out the enemies. They aren’t infinitely respawning, so you can easily take your time. Ranged classes are the same deal in essence, though with most builds you want to maintain some amount of range at all times from the Broodguard Spider.
