While we’re still in the early days of the latest Destiny 2 seasonal event, it doesn’t hurt to be prudent about ensuring that you’re gearing up well in advance of Shadowkeep rearing its head. Throwing yourself at the various Solstice of Heroes challenges can get a little boring, so try on this week’s Ascendant Challenge for size to get one step closer to geared-up greatness. Destiny 2 Ascendant Challenge Guide — Quest Location
To get cracking on the most recent Ascendant challenge, you’re going to want to go to the Dreaming City to pick up the bounty for it. This week will be taking you to the scenic Aphelion’s Rest in the Strand, and you’ll need to make sure that you have the Ascendance status to actually get within sniffing radius of the Taken portal to progress to the next step.
If you’re unsure how to get the Ascendance buff, we can confirm that you have to consume a Tincture of Queensfoil. The easiest way to get one of these is to buy one, though puttering around the Dreaming City is another way to acquire them. Once you’ve used the Tincture in the Lost Sector to the west of Aphelion’s Rest, you’ll be able to spot the Taken portal that you have to enter to actually finish the challenge. You should expect to be spat out to Ouroborea in the Ascendant Plane.
Destiny 2 Ascendant Challenge Guide — Tips and Tricks
Once you’ve gotten into Ouroborea, you’ll be tasked with finding four different blights. Part of your job will be to fend off the Abyssal Champions that will try and hinder your progress as you hunt down these Taken blights with the final objective of destroying the crystals scattered around the location. You’ll have to navigate between blights on some pretty precarious platforms, so it’s important to watch your step and to not get too carried away.
After you destroy all the Blights, the crystals will not be shielded anymore. The Abyssal Champions will be a huge pain to deal with until you get rid of all the crystals, so it’s time to employ your fanciest footwork. Once you take down the crystals, the Champions will trouble you no longer and voila! Challenge completed. If you fancy some extra credit, there’s also Corrupted Eggs to snag on your way out of the portal and lore bones that are accessible if you travel due west of the statue in the center of the map towards a ruined hall and get up on its roof. Finishing this Ascendant Challenge will give you the Powerful gear that you’ve been wanting, which is a nice sweetener on top of everything else.
