Madden NFL 25 – Top 5 Ways to Defend a No-Huddle Attack

Five tools to add to your very own “no-huddle defense”

The real problem with the no-huddle offense is that as a defense we aren’t set up to stop the onslaught that the offense throws at us. Unless of course we prepare for it. We give you five tools to add to your very own “no-huddle defense.”

5 RUN DEFENSE

ALWAYS HAVE A RUN DEFENSE TO COUNTER A RUN-HEAVY OFFENSE.

A few formations we recommend for stopping the run are the 5-2, 4-4, and 4-3 Stack. One of these three is in almost every defensive playbook in the game. Have your run defense in mind so that when your opponent starts no-huddling you can quickly audible to your run defense and not miss a beat. The problem isn’t that the no-huddle is over-powered; the problem is that most times our defense isn’t ready. Be ready.

4 MAN-TO-MAN DEFENSE

OUR FAVORITE MAN-TO-MAN DEFENSE IS THE DOLLAR 3-2-6—2 MAN UNDER.

No-huddle offenses aren’t just getting to the line of scrimmage as fast as they can and snapping the ball. They are often changing their play in the process. This means that you need to change your defense. A lot will rely on your innate ability to anticipate what your opponent is going to do to you, but have your man-to-man defense ready so that you can shut down that third and 2 slant route.

3 ZONE DEFENSE

OUR FAVORITE ZONE DEFENSE IS THE DOLLAR 3-2-6—COVER 4.

Some players can’t beat man-to-man, and some can’t beat zone. Make sure you can get to your zone play as fast as possible during the no-huddle. Defending the no-huddle isn’t so much about what play you are using but about having a plan for specific situations. If you face an opponent who uses a lot of trips formations then look to use man-to-man. If you are facing someone who likes to spread out the offense then consider using zone, but make sure you have a plan for what you want to do.

2 BLITZING DEFENSE

OUR FAVORITE BLITZING DEFENSE IS THE 4-3 STACK—OLB FIRE MAN

You are probably starting to notice a trend. We need to have a defense for every situation. Adding a blitzing defense to the mix is the next step. Be ready to call upon this blitz when needed. One of our favorite things to do is to play a ton of coverage defense and then sneak in our heavy blitz on third down. It almost always gets our defense off the field.

1 MAX COVERAGE DEFENSE

OUR FAVORITE COVERAGE DEFENSE IS THE NICKEL 3-3-5—2 MAN UNDER WITH ADJUSTMENTS.

Max coverage defense is a must when playing Madden NFL 25. Just as we like to blitz on third downs we also like to keep our opponents on their toes by dropping as many defenders into coverage as possible and rushing only a couple of defenders. The Nickel 3-3-5—2 Man Under is a unique defensive play because the blitzing LB has a rush angle that gives him a turbo rush after the QB. We like to hot route the weak-side DE into a buzz zone and to hot route the DT to a QB spy. This defense is great for third and long situations, especially when your opponent anticipates pressure and blocks six-plus players.
