Time to get (even more) excited.

Get ready, Stardew Valley fans, because the wait for the 1.6 Update is about to make you even more impatient. On September 27, 2023, the game’s creator, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, shared a glimpse at some of the features coming in the long-awaited patch that’s been teased since 2020, including 8-player multiplayer, new late-game content, and a lot more.

“1.6 content sneak peek. no release date yet,” ConcernedApe wrote on Twitter (X), quickly dashing any hopes of a release date announcement. But alongside it came a picture listing a few features players can expect to come to Stardew Valley once the 1.6 Update finally launches, as well as some pixel art images that show a handful of new items, such as a new totem, materials and food.

According to the list ConcernedApe posted, the 1.6 Update will include:

  • A new major festival.
  • Two new mini festivals.
  • New late-game content, which expands on each of the skill areas.
  • New items and crafting recipes.
  • Joja alternatives to some of the end-game quests.
  • 100+ new lines of dialogue.
  • New type of reward for completing billboard requests.
  • Support for 8-player multiplayer on PC (it currently features 4-player multiplayer).
  • Many small additions and adjustments.
  • A new farm type.
  • New secrets.

These are just a handful of new features coming to Stardew Valley. As for what else will be added, ConcernedApe is keeping his cards very close to his chest.

And as for when Update 1.6 will be released, it is anyone’s guess. The developer is famous for working on his games alone, so without a team to help and with Haunted Chocolatier also in the works at the same time, it’s hard to predict exactly when it could come out.
