Star Wars fans were able to get their first look at Jedi: Fallen Order from Respawn during the Star Wars Celebration Chicago event this past weekend. From our brand new protagonist, played by Gotham actor Cameron Monaghan, to a daunting new story, the upcoming game looks to hit that sweet spot for fans of the galaxy far, far away.

It wouldn’t be a Star Wars game if there wasn’t at least one awesome bit featuring the iconic lightsaber, though Respawn teases that the powerful weapon is so much more throughout this story. When asked for more information about Cal’s, the protagonist, lightsaber, Respawn’s Stig Asmussen teased “How do you know that’s Cal’s lightsaber?”

Though both Asmussen and Respawn CEO Vince Zampella did elaborate that they want to share more about it but they can’t because it’s too key to the story and goes far too much into spoilers, they did make the promise that “over the course of the game, it will grow and evolve.”

We were at the Respawn showing live this year and the feeling of foreboding that they intentionally cast was palpable. “Many Star Wars fans, ourselves included, are really interested in the dark times, so we wanted to explore that mysterious, dangerous period,” said Stig Asmussen, Game Director, Respawn Entertainment. “The team at Lucasfilm have been amazing collaborators, helping us explore and further develop this part of the timeline where the Empire is at the height of its power and any remaining Jedi are in hiding. Within this narrative, we’ve crafted a game with intense, yet thoughtful and fun melee combat using the lightsaber and Force powers, allowing anyone to fulfill their Jedi fantasy.”

In case you missed our previous coverage about the new game, it was confirmed once more that this is a single-player, story-rich game, one in which is set after the events of Order 66 and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Cal himself is a young Padawan that has survived a string of tragic events, forced to be on the run as he learns what it means to be a Jedi.

As for the game itself, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order makes its debut on November 15 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
