Spellbreak Classes Guide

What color explodey do you want?

Spellbreak is the new battle royale flavor, and it’s pretty cool due to its unique magic and element-based combat. I also won my very first match, which makes me an expert on this particular videogame. That isn’t true, but I at least know how the game works! As you’re playing Spellbreak, you’ll probably settle on your favorite starting class. But when you’re new, it might be hard to decide which ones to choose first. There’s a practice area you can play with, but why not arm yourself with some knowledge before you dive in?

Spellbreak Class Elements and Explainers

When you start a new round of Spellbreak, you get to choose your class. What this does, is effectively assign your starting gauntlet. There are six different gauntlets, each with an assigned element and a difficulty level estimated by the game. We’re going to lay out the basics for each element here, but we don’t want to spoil all the fun of what you can do as you level up, or combine spells from different elements.

Easier Classes

  • Pyromancer: Obviously the fire element, the Pyromancer starts with the primary spell of just, slinging a fireball. Fireballs will catch enemies on fire on a direct hit for a small damage over time effect, and if you hit a clear spot on the ground the fire will linger, opening you up for some spell interaction if you have a second gauntlet equipped. The secondary is Flamewall, which lets you target a horizontal line to set on fire, which can light up anyone in its path.
  • Stoneshaper: The stone gauntlet’s primary is a distance-covering shockwave that causes a damaging fissure across a straight line. At first you have to be grounded to use it, but once you level up you can crash to the ground even when you’re levitating. Your secondary fires a massive boulder, which explodes on impact for some AoE damage.

Intermediate Classes

  • Toxicologist: This is a stealth-oriented class that lets you become visible inside of your own toxic fumes. Your primary sprays several poison projectiles that poison on impact, and leave puddles behind on the ground. Your secondary is a bomb that creates a lingering, toxic cloud. Shooting other elements into said cloud can make some cool stuff happen, but it’s also a good way to go invisible and get a speed boost after you level up.

High-Mastery Classes

  • Frostborn: Here’s Spellbreak’s sniper class. Your primary fires a single, chargeable icicle that can do serious damage. It also creates a trail of ice behind it that increases your movement speed, which counteracts slowdown caused by charging. Your secondary is a large field of ice that can slow down enemy movement and block other elements as it’s dispersed.
  • Conduit: The lightning gauntlet is about speed and accuracy. Your primary is a repeatable bolt of lightning that gives you bonuses if your shots hit. Your secondary is a bolt of lighting that comes down on a target with a slight delay. Leveling up increases your speed, decreases mana costs, and even shortens Rune cooldowns.
  • Tempest: Harnessing the power of wind lets you control vertical space, including an eventual damage bump when airborne. You can use your primary to block enemy spells, and even effectively rocket jump. With this class you’ll be trying to stay in the air, then eventually dragging enemies up there with you to ruin their runs.

There you have it! These are the six Classes you can currently choose from in Spellbreak. It’s important to know that regardless of what Class you choose, you can come across any other gauntlet on the map and use it. Your Class determines what you start with, as well as what bonuses you receive for your starting gauntlet once you level up.
