Geralt in Soul Calibur VI

A few weeks ago, Witcher developer, CD Projekt RED teased on Twitter that Geralt would be making the jump to a new game series sometime this year. Just before that Twitter tease, rumors had been circulating that Geralt would join the cast of Soul Calibur VI as a guest character. Many people put two and two together and assumed Geralt was coming to Soul Calibur VI. At that time no one knew when Bandai Namco would make the news official, but it seems now the time has come.

We don’t have a lot of footage of Geralt beyond what is shown in the trailer above. However, we do know Geralt will utilize the witcher’s signature fighting style. It’s a combination of swordplay, ability-enhancing potions, and combat magic, which should make him quite unique within the Soul Calibur world. As always, we’ll have more on Geralt in Soul Calibur VI in the near future so stay tuned to Prima Games.

“Soul Calibur is well known in the fighting games genre for including iconic guest characters. When we were approached with the idea of doing a crossover, we thought our community would really enjoy playing as the witcher,” said Marcin Momot, Community Lead at CD Projekt RED. “We’ve collaborated with Bandai Namco artists to faithfully recreate Geralt, and shared original Witcher 3 assets like Geralt’s model, animations, and weapons. I think Bandai Namco did an outstanding job of capturing all the details and introducing The Witcher to Soul Calibur in a way fans of both series will enjoy.”

Yesterday CD Projekt RED teased once again that an announcement about Geralt in another game would be coming this morning. The tease included the phrase, “Once more they’ll feel the sting of sparks as blades collide…” which many people immediately associated with Soul Calibur VI, due out later this year. This should not be all that surprising given that Bandai Namco published The Witcher 3 in multiple territories.

Be sure to check back in the morning for more details on Geralt in Soul Calibur VI, and check out the rest of the confirmed roster in our Soul Calibur VI game hub!
